Armenian artist in Poland

Sketches by Armenian artist Petros Malayan are the basis of his recent canvas collection "On fraternal soil".

Malayan said that he devotes the collection, consisting wholly of pieces drawn in Poland, to friends he made in Poland and that he intends to display it at an individual exhibition in Yerevan.

Malayan works are well-known to residents of the polish city of Olsztyn, where the artist's individual exhibition was successfully held last summer.

Malayan's canvases have also been displayed at an exhibition commemorating the 500th anniversary of birth of Nicholas Copernicus, at which the artist was awarded a special medal.

Pedros Malayan curated the Plain-Airs of Water-color in Siktivkar, Russia in 1978 and in Yerevan, Armenia in 1987 as well as being  a member (1970) of the Soviet Artist Union's "Commission on Watercolor" (Комиссия по акварели), in which he represented Armenia.
